In practice
The problem
With an assortment of 4,000 items and a warehouse area of 40,000 m², there are a considerable number of trailers to move at Baars & Bloemhoff’s distribution centre.
Previously, they used diesel tow tractors for this task. Only trained operators with a special driving license were allowed to operate them, resulting in high costs. Ease of use was also lacking. Baars & Bloemhoff wanted to move away from diesel tractors—not only because of exhaust emissions, but also because soot regularly soiled or even damaged the sheet materials.
For this reason, they decided to invest in an electric tow tug. They immediately felt a connection with V-move and shortly thereafter purchased a trailer mover with a towing capacity of up to 40,000 kg.
The solution
From day one, the V-move Trailer Mover 40T delivered enhanced safety and increased efficiency. The trailers suddenly became very easy to move, without the need for specialised personnel — and with zero emissions. Extensive maintenance or long charging times? On the contrary, Logistics Manager Bas Schipper describes the maintenance as “minimal.” The investment paid for itself within just nine months.
In addition, Baars & Bloemhoff required some customisation. In our workshop, we fitted the V-move with extra work lights and adapted the remote control so that it only operates when held upright. This prevents accidents, for example if someone trips while holding the remote. In short: nothing but advantages!
